In 1979, the Maharajah was born on a simple idea: To offer a meal worthy of the name Maharajah, at a modest price, while serving traditional Indian flavours and using a range of authentic South African Indian cooking techniques.
40 Years later, and more meals than we can count, the Maharajah is still hosted by the same family, and serving meals true to its heritage. The place, over the decades, has vibrated to the rhythm of all those who fell in love with the rich decadent flavors. Maharajah currently has two stores located in Cape Town. Our branch in Tamboerskloof is tucked away right below Table Mountain and offers a warm, vibrant and cosy dining experience. Our service style emphasizes hospitality with knowledgeable staff who are present yet unobtrusive. Our new branch, Maharajah Rondebosch, recently opened its doors and offers Take-away and Delivery.
